Are my pets at risk from this new H5N1 strain of avian influenza?

Limiting your pet’s interactions with wild life is the key to preventing avian influenza from wild birds to your pets, whether that’s cat, dog or pet bird.  If you do need to get your dog outside keep him on a leash and keep him under close supervision all the times again to prevent those interactions with wild animals or with wild animal feces.
