Transcript of Native American and Alaska Native Radio PSA on H1N1 (60 seconds)

Participants:

Dr. Yvette Roubideaux, Director, Indian Health Service, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

[Dr. Roubideaux] Hi, I’m Dr. Yvette Roubideaux, Director of the Indian Health Service.

[Secretary Sebelius]      And, I’m Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services.

The Mission of HHS is to promote the health and well-being of all people, including American Indians and Alaska Natives.

This year one of our biggest challenges is preventing the spread of the H1N1 flu, which continues to be the most common form of flu across the country and in tribal communities.

[Dr. Roubideaux] The good news is that we have developed a safe and effective vaccine. Vaccination is the best way to protect yourself, your family, and your community against the flu. Ask your healthcare provider for both the H1N1 and seasonal flu vaccine.

There are also some simple steps you can take to prevent the spread of the flu:

Wash your hands often with soap and water.

Cough into your sleeve or a tissue.

And if you are sick, stay home.

[Secretary Sebelius]      Together, we can all fight the Flu.
