Back to the Dorm...
August 26, 2010
If you are moving into the dorms for college, you have probably seen many lists about how you should pack and what to bring with you. However, what may be missing from the lists is what you should bring to protect your health from flu.
Add these items to your list, too.
- hand soap and alcohol-based hand sanitizer
- disinfectant spray or wipes
- fever medication (No Aspirin!)
- decongestant/antihistamine
- sore throat lozenges
- tissues
Living in the dorms often means sharing a lot of time with other people. However, getting sick with flu and sharing that with your friends is so not great. Take these everyday steps to protect your health.
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way.
- Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
Stay healthy to get the most from the new semester. Read more about prevention and treatment.
